You can transfer ownership of your Cookiebot premium account to another user. This is useful when the person responsible for the account changes – for example, when an employee leaves the organization or when account administration is handed over to a colleague.
The new owner gains full owner access and can manage users, settings, and billing for the account. Transferring ownership doesn't affect your subscription fees.
Transferring ownership
- Log into the Cookiebot Admin.
- Click Manage subscription at the top of your screen.
- Select the User Management tab.

Find the user you want to make the new owner, then click the … (more options) icon on their row and select Transfer ownership.

A confirmation dialog will pop up explaining that you'll lose owner permissions after the transfer, and that only the new owner can transfer them back. Tick the I understand I'll immediately lose owner access checkbox, then click Transfer ownership to confirm (or Cancel to keep ownership).
What happens after the transfer
The transfer takes effect immediately when you confirm. Once complete:

A confirmation message appears: "Ownership transferred to [email address]".
- The User Management list updates automatically – the new user is now shown as Owner, and your status changes to User.
- The new owner receives an email confirming they are now the account owner.
Email to the new owner
The new owner receives an email with the subject "You've been made the owner of a Cookiebot™ account", letting them know that ownership has been transferred to them and that they now have full owner access to manage users, settings, and billing.
Pending invitations
If a user's status is still "Pending" (they haven't accepted their invitation yet), the … menu shows only the Delete option. You cannot transfer ownership to a pending user – they must accept the invitation and become a User first.
