Custom Country Data (CCD) allows you to apply different privacy modes to visitors from different countries. This is useful if your audience spans multiple regions with different legal requirements — for example, stricter settings for EU visitors and lighter settings for visitors from countries without strict data protection laws.
Plan requirement: Custom Country Data is available on Advanced, Pro, and Custom Enterprise plans.
How it works
Each country in the list can be assigned to one of the four privacy levels. By default, all countries follow your active global privacy mode. You can override individual countries to apply a different level.
Country statuses
Each country has one of four statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The country uses the selected privacy mode for this level. |
| Inactive | The country is not assigned to this level. It may be assigned to another. |
| Locked | The setting is fixed and cannot be moved to a different level without unlocking it first. |
| Unidentified | Traffic whose country of origin cannot be determined. Can be assigned to one level at a time. |
Setting up per-country privacy modes
- Go to Privacy Center → Manage Data Privacy Modes.
- Expand the country list under the desired privacy level.
- Search for the country you want to configure.
- Move it to the appropriate privacy level.
- Optionally, lock the country setting to prevent accidental changes.
- Click Save Changes.
Note: Only the website owner can modify country statuses. Contributors with Editor or Watcher roles can view settings but cannot make changes.
