Cookies & Trackers: Understanding your tracker report and classifying trackers

This article explains how to read your Cookies and Trackers report and classify the trackers detected on your domain, so your consent banner and automatic cookie blocking stay accurate.

Before you start: 

• Your domain needs to be added and scanned at least once before trackers appear in this table. If you haven't scanned your domain yet, see Scan your domain below.

Access your tracker report

Go to Cookies & Reports → Cookies and Trackers tab, then select a domain from the domain dropdown.

Cookies and Trackers table

This table lists every tracker automatically detected on your domain. You can:

• Search:  Type in the search field to filter by tracker name, provider, or category.
• Sort: Click the Tracker Name, Provider, or Category column headers to sort the table ascending or descending.
• Paginate: Use the page-size selector (10 / 25 / 50 rows) and the navigation arrows to move between pages.
• Filter by Unclassified Only: When unclassified trackers are present, a filter icon with a checkbox appears above the table. Toggle Unclassified Only to show only trackers that still need a category.
• Prior consent column: The Prior consent column shows whether a tracker is Blocked or Not blocked before a user gives consent.
  • Hover over the badge to see the URL where the tracker was first detected.
  • Click the badge to copy that URL, so you can verify it against your site using your browser's developer tools.

Classify a tracker

1. Click the arrow icon at the end of the tracker row to open the tracker details panel.
2. Select a category.
3. Add a cookie purpose description if needed.
4. Click Save.

Unclassified warning

Trackers without a category show a ⚠ icon next to the Unclassified label. Classifying every tracker improves your compliance posture by ensuring each one is correctly grouped in your consent banner.

Classifying a tracker also ensures Automatic cookie blocking — if you use it as your blocking mechanism — correctly blocks the scripts that tracker originates from, matching its assigned consent category. Updated blocking states appear after the next domain scan.

Track your classification progress

The classification progress bar shows the percentage of detected trackers that have been assigned a category (for example, "20 of 79 classified"). It doesn't indicate scan status — it only reflects how much of your tracker inventory you've classified.

Next to the bar, a counter shows how many trackers are firing prior to consent — hover the ⓘ icon for details. Aim for 100% classified and 0 firing prior to consent, so nothing is listed as unclassified or unblocked in your Cookiebot banner.

Manually add a cookie or tracker

If the scanner missed a cookie or tracker, click Add cookie / tracker below the main table to add it yourself. Use the search field above the manual list to find entries you've already added.

Scan your domain

If no trackers appear, click Start scanning domains to trigger a scan. Scans can take up to 24 hours to complete.
