Google’s Privacy Policy link update – Cookiebot Support

Google’s EU user consent policy requires that Google’s Privacy Policy be directly accessible from your CMP. Google has changed this specific URL recently and to continue to comply with this policy requirement, you need to ensure that the correct URL to Google’s Privacy Policy is included in your custom banner and that you mention “Some of the data collected by this provider is for the purposes of personalization and measuring advertising effectiveness.”.

This is the new Google Privacy URL: https://business.safety.google/privacy/.

For your convenience, this link is already integrated and updated within the Swift banner.

What you need to do

Please make this change before January 31, 2025

This update is essential to avoid potential failed audits from Google.

Please note

This only applies to custom banners.
Our default (Swift) banner will automatically display the updated link for services provided by Google.

Update your custom banner

Make sure to add Google’s Privacy Policy link and add a sentence similar to “Some of the data collected by this provider is for the purposes of personalization and measuring advertising effectiveness.”

Alternatively, switch to the Swift banner

Our default banner uses links from our repository and includes the necessary update.

To switch to a default banner, please take the following steps:

Log into the Admin and select Configuration from the main menu.
To switch from your custom to a default template, click the Templates link in the upper left corner.

Please note

You will not lose your default banner and can switch back to the your custom banner in the future.
Select one of the templates and click the Next button.
You can now fine tune and configure your banner before saving your changes if you so desire.
