Cookiebot banner with the default settings applied to it
Below you can find details on all default settings divided in four major categories:
Automatic tag blocking
Whether something loads prior consent depends on how you choose to implement Cookiebot CMP. There are several methods, each with their unique advantages:
-
Inline implementation
With this method you copy the Cookiebot script from the Cookiebot Admin and add it to the header of your website. The default script will support automatic cookie blocking, which will automatically prevent scripts from loading prior consent if their require consent.
You can also manually mark up scripts. While this may appear cumbersome, it does give you more control over which services are loaded and under what circumstances. -
Google Tag Manager
When you implement Cookiebot CMP via the Cookiebot CMP tag template from the Community Template Gallery you can configure tags to utilize additional consent settings to make them "consent aware".
With this implementation, default Google consent mode settings will automatically be set.Automatic tag blocking is not supported when you implement Cookiebot CMP using the tag template. Because GTM loads tags asynchronously, automatic tag blocking wouldn't be reliable. -
WordPress plugin
When you implement Cookiebot CMP via the Cookiebot WordPress plugin you can enable Google consent mode in the plugin's user interface.
You can't configure which scripts/tags/services are blocked prior consent in the Cookiebot Admin.
