The GPC signal can currently be enabled in Brave and Firefox, as well as through extensions to other browsers. Enabling GPC will simply change the value of the
- Decline Only: When a GPC signal is present, the implied consent (clicking a link or scrolling on the site) will trigger an opt-out, instead of opt-in.
- Do Not Sell (display banner: false): When a GPC signal is present, it will trigger a full opt-out, instead of opt-in.
- Do Not Sell (display banner: true): When a GPC signal is present, the 'Do not sell [...]' checkbox will be pre-checked. This checkbox only shows when this banner type is re-opened.
- Multilevel / Inline Multilevel: When a GPC signal is present, the pre-checked options from the manager will be overwritten to unchecked.
There will be a GPC signal detection message on the Cookiebot banner to support California requirements. The banner will look like this when GPC is turned on:
For all other banner setups, the GPC signal has no impact on the Cookiebot consent or banner.
Note that we do not honor the doNotTrack signal - only GPC!
