Scan not reaching subdomain

Since about a month, we're triggering the scanner to scan one of our subdomains. We can only see following message in the admin panel:

Hi VAB,
You need to check if the subdomain is responsive. If it is not, this is why the scanner status is as described.
In case it is actually responsive, you should provide us with the name of the subdomain, so we can restart the scan.Regards,

Thank you for your quick response.
Is there a way I can send you the URL in private? It's a non public domain and I don't want to throw it out in the public (for security reasons).

It appears that the domain name you sent is unresponsive.
When you try to open it in a browser there is a '404 - File directory not found' error. That is the reason the scanner can't scan the subdomain and no data is available.Regards,
