Tripadvisor widget and cookies
AnsweredHi, I'm not a developer so I'm just trying to understand this in simple terms! At the moment, on the site I look after, we have a Tripadvisor widget that loads in the footer showing reviews. By adding prior consent as a 'Marketing' cookie, does this mean that the widget will not show/be loaded until the 'Marketing' consent box is ticked by the user?
Excuse my ignorance, but I'm guessing the box/widget can't be loaded with the cookies turned off (until consent given). Can you have the review box showing without loading cookies?

Hi nic3108,
We have an article regarding TripAdvisor Widget, which you can check here: https://support.cookiebot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005354413-TripAdvisor-Widget
If you add prior consent for "marketing" category then if the marketing is not ticked/accepted the widget won't load, you are correct about that.
In regards to the review box showing without cookies the answer is no. You can't control cookies like this.

Thank you for replying so quickly. So, other than adding the Tripadvisor Widget cookies as 'Necessary', the only option is to have a Tripadvisor certificate image link to the Tripadvisor site page? It seems a shame as the Tripadvisor Widget is great for the site and the site doesn't benefit from the cookies (only Tripadvisor does)!

Hey nic3108,
The solutions you mentioned will work, but changing TripAdvisor Cookies to be "Necessary" is not a good idea. Marketing cookies should not be loaded without customers prior consent and this is stated in the GDPR. You can check this article:
