Performance Tests without the Cookiebot banner?

  • Hi Dennis,

Google tools should not exclude Cookiebot or any other script added to the website since they are testing the overall website performance with all included scripts.
However, Cookiebot has nothing to do with the overall site performance (speed and loading time) because its only a tool which holds/blocks elements which are setting cookies on the website until the user gives appropriate consent.

    Hi Spas,

    thank your for you answer.

What about the Cumulative Layout shift? https://web.dev/optimize-cls/  We recognized affects on these test results with the cookiebanner.

In addition, I wonder whether the holding/blocking of elements/tags (e.g. Google Analytics until someone accepts statistics cookies) is affecting the performance because Google tools can't give consent so these script's won't be loaded - or did I understand that incorrectly?

    Regards,

    Dennis

  • Hi Dennis,

Google tools for indexing and checking the performance of the website can't give a consent but they can check all scripts included into the website source code. As I mentioned above Cookiebot has nothing to do with the overall site performance because its only a extra script tag included into the website. This is how the performance tools are "seeing" it.

    Regards,
    Spas
