Google Analytics Cookie

  • Hi Julia,

The above described problem could be caused because the google analytics cookies are either unclassified or classified as necessary. Could you please check that and classify them properly, for example as statistics cookies.

In order to prevent cookies from loading before specific consent has been given you should enable prior consent on your site. This means you have to hold back all those cookies and online trackers containing personal data that are not strictly necessary, until the user agrees to them by giving an appropriate consent. And if the user does not want for his/her personal data to be used that way and doesn’t give a consent, then you need to continue holding back everything but strictly necessary cookies. https://support.cookiebot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004204613-1-Make-sure-you-have-enabled-prior-consent-

You could do so by assigning those cookies to specific cookie category and then they would be set/hold depending on user consent. Find more information about this here: https://support.cookiebot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004104033-What-does-prior-consent-mean-and-how-do-I-implement-it-
Please do not hesitate to write us back if you issue is not solved after enabling prior consent, so we could investigate it further.

    Regards,
    Spas

    Hi Spas,

thank you so much for your quick response and help.

We have classified the Analytics cookies as statistic cookies, but still have the same problem.

I am really not sure what we are doing wrong:(

    Regards, Julia

  • Hi Julia,

In case that you are not using the auto-blocking mode you would need to manually mark up the Google Analytics script, so it could be blocked by Cookiebot before the proper consent has been given by the user. You could find more detailed information about this in the link below under step 4.
    https://www.cookiebot.com/en/manual-implementation-guide/

Overall, all you need to do is to add data-cookieconsent="statistics" attribute to the Google Analytics script, so Cookiebot would know to which category you have classify it.

Hi Spas, thank you very much.

We have made sure to classify all cookies, but according to the Cookiebot scan report, the prior consent still is not fully activated.

We have tried to work with the manual implementation, but even though Javascript can be implemented in our Typo3 CMS, we don't have the neccessary options.

Hard to explain, I guess I don't make a lot of sense here.:(

    Regards, Julia

  • Hi Julia,

The compliance test result says that your website is not compliant and that the prior consent still is not fully activated because there are cookies that are not classified. In case that you do not have access to the cookies scripts than you could classify cookies directly from your Cookiebot account.
Go to the menu point ‘Cookies’ to see the cookies identified in the latest scan report, then on each unclassified cookie, choose the correct category from the drop-down menu and save your settings.
You could find more detailed information here: https://support.cookiebot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003735214-Unclassified-cookies-how-do-I-classify-them-manually-
