Marketing tag is already firing before the consent banner is clicked

  • Hi Mitch,

This behavior is most likely caused by the fact that your domain is password-protected. If Cookiebot is deployed using Google Tag Manager, you would need to set the marketing-trigger on the tag that deploys the utmvc-cookie.
In case that you are not using Google Tag Manager, you would need to make sure that auto-blocking is enabled on the Cookiebot script tag. By enabling auto-blocking mode you could solve the problem with cookies being set before giving consent.

    Hi Spas,

We already enabled the auto-blocking on the Cookiebot script tag. However, the scan results shows that the auto-blocking is not enabled. Please see attached screenshot for reference.

Looking forward to a reply very soon.

    Regards,

    Mitch

Following up on this since this is a major issue.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Mitch,

The site in question is password-protected and therefor the scanner cannot scan the site and instead shows the cookies that are included on the errorpage displayed, when entering the site. See screenshot below.
If you would like to enable scan of the site including activation of auto-blocking, you need to reach out the Cookiebot support team at support@cookiebot.com with username/password for the website so that they could configure the scanner to use the login when scanning the site.

    Regards,
    Spas
