Divi Theme and Cookiebot Auto Mode --> not working very well together

  • Hi Jasmin,

The above described problem does not comes from the theme, actually it is not a problem at all. This is not an error, but expected behavior of Cookiebot auto blocking mode. What you are describing is expected behavior: The auto-blocker blocks all elements setting cookies until the visitor has submitted a consent.

The reason why the auto blocking mode does not display some text, images and other elements is that those elements are setting cookies on the site and therefore they have been hold on (not displayed) until the consent is given. When consent is given and cookies have been allowed those elements are displayed on the website.
This is how auto blocking mode works, it hold/blocks all elements which are setting cookies on the website until those cookies have been allowed.
For more detailed information please check this article: https://support.cookiebot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009063100-Automatic-Cookie-Blocking-How-does-it-work-

    Hi Spas,

thank you for your answer but I do not understand how a text using Arial Font is setting a cookie.

And some texts using the same fonts or even google fonts are displaying.

    Seems to be random somehow.

On other websites using a different theme this error does not occur so I another check on your site would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Jasmin

  • Hi Jasmin,

In case that the text is coming/displayed through some plugin or an element which is setting cookies it is normal to be blocked until consent is given.
However, if this is not the case could you please provide us with a bit more information about it (steps to reproduce or some video/images of the issue, any information would be very useful and appreciated). Could you also please provide us with your domain name so we could investigate the issue further more and help you solve it instead of guessing.

    Regards,
    Spas

I am also experiencing this issue.

What is happening is load times for content are being validated or something Via Cookiebot, causing the website to glitch for a moment, and then load the correct content such as pictures and fonts.

When I remove Cookiebot this issue disappears.

  • Hi Jonathan,

I have visited the website you have mentioned in your comment (https://davepetchpsychotherapy.co.uk/ ) and I saw that currently you are not using Cookiebot (the cookiebot script is not inserted on your site).
However, from what you have written above I guess that this issue is caused because Cookiebot blocks all elements which are setting cookies on the site and when cookies have been accepted the elements are loaded. But I would have to be able to see the page to be sure though.

  • Hi,

    I experience the same issues.

Here is an example: https://video.bloomsite.nl/. Next to the image of a person with stones on her/his back i added a textmodule.

The textmodule only appears when you accept all cookies. This textmodule appears with an animation. You can test this in a incognito tab.

I discovered that the problem only occurs with modules with an animation. I installed the Cookiebot plugin and set the setting to automatic.

The thing is that some modules use a standerd animation and are not displayed. I just installed Cookiebot on all of our clients sites (200+) and would love a fix from you guys.

I don't think that Divi uses cookies for the animations, because the cookiebot report doesn't show a cookie for Divi.

Looking forward to a fast reply.

  • Hi Tim,

After visiting your website I can see that the text animation is working (next to the image of a person with stones on her/his back) even before accepting all cookies. Could you please confirm that you are still experiencing the above described issue.
However, in case that those modules and animations are working after accepting all cookies I can assume that the problem is not coming from Cookiebot, but from the fact that those modules are setting cookies on site which are block/hold until the user allows them. This is not a bug, but expecting Cookiebot behavior regarding the new GDPR requirements.

If those cookies are coming from the theme itself or modules which are strictly necessary for the site your could classify them as 'necessary' and then the cookies would not be blocked. Another solution would be to set 'Active Consent' method by means of which website visitors ignoring the consent dialog automatically consents to all cookies by continued use of the website. Since your animated section is further down visitors need to scroll and respectively to allow cookies.

    Spas

    Hello Spas & Cookiebot Team,

I do experience the same problem. On my website www.thomasgerstmann.de all images are not loading properly. All "neccessary" cookies are imho being defined as such, but still normal images are not loading without statistics AND marketing consent being accepted.

Could anybody help which cookies are responsible for this wrong behaviour?

    Thank you
    Thomas

  • Hi Tom,

In case that the images on your website are not loading without accepting statistics and marketing cookies this means that those images are connected with this kind of cookie categories. It is possible those images to set marketing and statistics cookies on your website especially if you are adding images through an extention or module/plugin.

Could you please check which cookies are being loaded after giving consent for statistics and marketing. Then try to see if those cookies are somehow related to the images. Cookiebot only holds back cookies/elements from being set on the website without a consent.

    Regards,
    Spas
