It is possible to customize the existing template text in the cookie consent banner in a number of different ways. You can edit the template text or completely delete it and add your own. It is possible to format the text using bold, bullets and numbering or HTML code. It is also possible to add hyperlinks if for example you want to link to your Privacy Policy or Cookie Declaration.
1. Here’s how to edit the text in the cookie consent banner:
- Log in to your account https://manage.cookiebot.com/goto/login
- Go to ‘Settings’ and click the ‘Content’ tab
- Click anywhere within the text you want to edit. When you do this, a small toolbar will appear (please note that the toolbar is not visible until you have clicked on the text)
- From the toolbar you can use bold, bullet points and numbering to format the text in the box (see below for how to add a link and how to use HTML). Repeat for the other text boxes
- When you’re happy with the formatting, save your settings (tick mark in the blue bar on the left-hand side)

- Choose if you would like the link to open in a new window
- When you have added the information, click the green ‘Insert’ button to insert the link
- Review your changes. You can also preview them using the preview icon on the left-hand side blue bar
- If you are happy with your changes, save your settings (tick mark in the blue bar on the left-hand side)
3. Here’s how to edit the content in the cookie consent banner using HTML:
- Log in to your account https://manage.cookiebot.com/goto/login

Editing static texts on the banner
While some texts on your banner are automatically generated, there are large parts that are static. These texts can be edited to suit your needs and can give your banner the some wording and style as the rest of the website has.
Follow these steps to edit any of the static texts:
- Log into the Admin.
- Select the "Configuration" option from the left-hand menu.
- Select the "Content" tab. You should see something similar to this:
- If you have multiple languages added, click the pencil icon at the right-hand side of the a language where you want to modify the text(s).
- You can now select any of the field that correspond to elements on the banner and change the default texts.
- Remember to save any changes you make by clicking the "Save changes" button when you are done.
Adding links
You may want to link to something on the banner, like your Privacy Policy. To do this, follow the same steps as above that explain how you can edit texts (step 5), and follow these additional steps:
- Select the text that you want to turn into a link.
If you don't select any text, the entire text will be converted to a hyperlink.
- Click on the link icon to open the hyperlink dialog.
- Enter the URL of what you are creating a link to in the field labeled "Link".
If you want to display a text that appears when your visitors hover over the link, you can add it in the "Tooltip" field.
Lastly, if you want the target page to be openen in a new tab, instead of leaving the current page, check the "Open in new tab" box.

Modifying or personalizing text and content in the cookie banner can indeed be done in the cookie manager.
However, if you are looking for a different style or look and feel for your cookie banner, you can also design this within the custom template in the cookie manager.
If you don't have the time for this, you can check out our custom designs. They might offer a good starting point for this.
Very Informative
