Must I have a Premium subscription in order to be a reseller?

In order for us to convert your Cookiebot account to a reseller account, it has to be a Premium account, because of the following reasons:

1. We cannot technically convert a free account with limited functionality to a reseller account with full functionality
2. For those customers you have under the wholesale model, we will withdraw the subscription fees minus your 20% wholesale discount monthly via the payment details you enter on your account. We will charge your credit card or PayPal for the amount. Since you can use either one or both of the reseller models at any time and do not have to inform us of the choice, we need to have your payment information even if you only intend to use the retail model.

How to create a Premium Cookiebot account:

We do not require you to have a Premium subscription for your own website. We do, however, recommend it since customers will often look at your website for inspiration and to see Cookiebot in action. Also, it does send a signal to your customers if you yourself are using the same solution you are trying to sell to them.

How to make sure your domain will stay on the Free plan:

After your account has been converted to a reseller account, you can create a free domain group and add your own domain to the domain group (See also: What are domain groups and how should I use them). This is only possible if your domain qualifies for a Free plan (maximum 1 domain, 50 pages or fewer). You can then save any data you need and cancel the premium subscription for your domain (you can do this by deleting the old domain group with your domain – if that domain was the only one in the group or by deleting the individual domain by clicking the grey arrow icon with a cross next to the domain). Remember to insert new script(s) as the CBID (Cookiebot Id) will have changed.
