Setting up an account
When a customer accepts your invitation sent from your reseller account or uses your unique reseller link to sign up for a Cookiebot account, the following happens:
The customer will enter an email and password, accept our Terms of Service and then create the account.
This account automatically belongs under your reseller account and both you and the customer will have access to the configurations and account. The Cookiebot account always starts as a ‘free subscription’ with limited functionality (unless the customer chooses to add his payment info during the sign-up process).
Determining the subscription
When the customer adds a domain, the scanner will shortly after start scanning the domain in-depth to look for cookies and trackers in use on the website. In this process, the scanner will also determine the number of subpages.
If there are 100 subpages or less, the customer can continue on a free subscription for maximum 1 domain and with limited functionality. The customer can always upgrade to a premium subscription if he needs to add more domains or would like access to the full functionality.
If the scanner determines that there are more than 100 subpages (so it no longer qualifies for the ‘Free subscription’) then the subscription will automatically be converted to a 1-month free trial with full functionality.
If the customer cancels his account during the 1-month free trial period, there will be no cost to the customer (and no gain to you). If the customer wants to continue using Cookiebot, he will need to add payment information. This should be done before the trial expires (please note that when the payment information is added, the free trial will end - see What is a 'free trial' and when will I pay the subscription fee?). If payment information is not added before the trial expires, the scripts will stop working and no further scans will be performed. When the customer logs in after the trial has expired (or when you do as a reseller with access to his account), then you will be met with a ‘payment information’ page that you cannot get past until the payment info has been added.
Receiving an invoice
If the customer is on a ‘free subscription’ there will be no payment/invoice (and no administration fee for you).
If the customer is on a ‘premium subscription’ he will pay and receive invoices monthly in arrears.
Example: A customer signs up for a Cookiebot account and adds a domain to his account on 1 January. This is automatically a free subscription. On the same day we do a scan of the domain and determine that it has 200 subpages. The customer will receive an e-mail from us with information that the domain exceeds the maximum number of subpages allowed under the free plan and that the account has been converted to a free 1-month trial account with full premium functionality. On 1 February, the trial period ends. The user enters his payment information and continues on a premium subscription. The first payment will be charged, and an invoice received on 1 March covering the month of February.
The customer can choose to pay yearly in advance instead of monthly in arrears.
